Dr. Claire Fitzpatrick

I began my career as a chiropractor in 1984 when my back went out in a Pizzaria Uno in the East Village.
A fun-loving eighteen-year-old at the time, I had no idea what was happening to me when a knife-like low back pain had me lying face down on a public restaurant bathroom floor, unable to stand.
Prior to this incident, I had been experiencing numbness in one section of my lower leg for four months. Up to that point, I had been seeing a physical therapist under the direction of an orthopedist three times weekly with no improvement. Neither practitioner had associated the numbness in my leg with the possibility of low back issue.
Fortunately, my mother had a great chiropractor in New City, New York (Dr. Mark Ferraro, now in Stony Point -- thank you forever, Doc!). He educated me in the correlation between my numb leg and my low back issue. After a strict schedule of spinal adjustments, he had me on the road to a healthy, vibrant, pain-free life. And the feeling in my leg came back!
I decided to dedicate my life to helping other people like me who never knew that they could experience incredible health and vitality through chiropractic care.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic. My approach drives my focus: family chiropractic. All families experience life on a constantly changing basis; therefore, all families need chiropractic care. Chiropractic clears the nervous system of interference due to the stresses of daily living and optimizes the body's health and capabilities for future challenges.
My techniques span from the traditional to the non-force application of chiropractic care. I use Bio-Geometric Integration as my conceptual system of analysis; my techniques include: Diversified, Gonstead, Directional Non-Force Technique, Sacral Occipital Technique, Thompson, Flexion-Distraction, and Activatator, among others. The variety of my approaches combined with a specific determination of each patient's needs makes me especially appropriate to work with the entire family, from newborns to seniors.
I hold lectures and workshops on chiropractic health and healing, physical fitness, office ergonomics, nutrition, stress and weight management throughout the tri-state area. I write health and fitness articles for local newspapers and health publications in New York City and Westchester. I am an active member of several local organizations that serve to support health, fitness, eco-mindedness, the arts, creativity and positive connections with one's self and his or her environment.
I practice chiropractic in New York City and Mamaroneck, NY.
